Discussion on what should be considered in
finding “the Big Idea” for a project.
-
The big idea for a project is things like what
the core concepts and processes are. Students should be able to know and
understand he basic concepts of a subject. Another is to find main objectives
in the curriculum.
2.

21st century skills are skills needed
to get ahead and live in society today. Such things as analyze, evaluate, and
create. Another skill is basic

know how to take normal assignments and make them something more.

and operational concepts.

5.
Discussion on how concepts in this chapter
relate to my topic/project.
- This chapter will help out
Classroom Kitchen group to come up with great lesson plans that will help
students get a deeper knowledge of the subjects.
I like that you mentioned that this chapter and it's concepts will aid in the lesson planning process. Making the point that projects should correlate with core concepts in the curriculum was a great idea as well. One key aspect that you didn't mention is the importance of bringing real world issues into the classroom. This helps students to become familiar with topics of importance to discuss with one another.
ReplyDeleteI like how short and sweet your blog is. It gave just enough detail to understand the concept of the big idea as well as good definitions of the key points such as deeper learning.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your reflection. I enjoyed that it was concise but still contained all the information needed. I especially liked how you pointed out that teachers need to take normal assignments and make something more out of them so that they will help students to develop skills that will help them in the future.
