RR #2

1.)  Discussion on the focus of Learning Communities.
-       Learning communities create collaboration between teachers and students, ensure that students are learning, and create communal results.  This type of community creates an environment where the group of people can come together to solve a problem or even share ideas.

2.)  Discussion on the benefits of Learning Communities.
-       Benefits of learning communities are increased commitment, equal and shared responsibility, and more powerful learning ways and strategies. You really learn how to work with a group of people or a person to get a result, which is very beneficial.

3.)  Discussion on how Learning Communities affect teachers.
-       Teachers can get a lot out of learning communities. Teachers can brainstorm with each other about planning. They can also reflect about their classrooms. When talking they can share ideas and collaborate different ideas or lessons.

4.)  Discussion on how Learning Communities affect students.
-Learning communities will help students in a positive way. They wouldn’t have to sit and listen to their teacher talk all day.  They will learn to work with others, which will really help when they become adults and get a job. Students can learn from their peers and see what they have to offer.

5.)  Discussion on the components for shared vision in Learning Communities.
-  When you put several peoples thoughts together a lot more ideas can come out of it rather than having one person doing all the thinking. Tasks can also be shared along the community, which helps things get accomplished.

6.)  Discussion on how concepts in his chapter relate to your topic/project.
- This concept is kind of like what we are doing in class now with our groups. We are putting our heads together to come up with exciting lessons and ideas that would work in a classroom.

  1. I agree with everything you had to say about community learning! Especially with how students are affected by it. I do agree that students are affected only in a positive way when it comes to community learning. I think it is very essential for students to work together to gain knowledge on how they will work together in the real world.
